According to the Guardian, Itab Azzam and Jack MacInnes spent a decade crafting their documentary "One in a Million," which follows the journey of Syrian girl Israa from Aleppo to Europe. The filmmakers first met Israa in 2015 while producing the BBC series "Exodus," where the then-11-year-old calmly outlined how her family would survive if their dinghy sank. After Israa safely reached Germany, the couple chose to keep filming, documenting her passage from childhood into adulthood. The resulting film draws comparisons to Richard Linklater’s "Boyhood" and the "Up!" series, offering an extraordinary longitudinal look at a refugee family's struggles and resilience
