The Guardian reported that CVS Health, described as the largest US healthcare conglomerate and valued at $117bn, has announced plans to divide its operations. Under the plan, its 9,000 pharmacies, in-store clinics and mail order prescription business would move into a newly separate business called CVS Pharmacy. The remaining CVS Health would house major insurer Aetna and benefits manager Caremark, separating the pharmacy chain from the health insurance and benefits businesses. The announcement, made on Wednesday, marks a shift away from the period when healthcare firms expanded into huge conglomerates, according to the Guardian.
