The Guardian reported that a parliamentary investigation has found Britain to be reliant on China for critical raw materials. Those materials are required for the military, renewable energy infrastructure and artificial intelligence, and MPs said delivering net zero is also at risk because of the dependence. Members of the business select committee called for a centralised policy and for a critical minerals finance facility. The proposed facility would help fund rare earth and other critical mineral mines, using grants, equity and debt to accelerate diversification.
