According to the Guardian, the Bank of England is expected to lift interest rates on Thursday. That expectation comes after a closely watched survey found activity in the UK services sector rose last month to its highest level in eight months, with investment in artificial intelligence helping to drive the increase. The S&P Global survey for October found that companies recovered much of the momentum they had lost following the start of the Iran war. However, the survey also pointed to renewed pressure on costs, as input price inflation quickened to a five-month high.
