MANILA — Sixteen areas across the Philippines are bracing for dangerously high heat levels on Tuesday, with heat indices potentially climbing as high as 43 degrees Celsius, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa). In its latest heat index forecast released on Monday, Pagasa identified Iloilo City among the localities most severely affected by the extreme heat. The forecast indicates that multiple regions nationwide will experience dangerously elevated temperature conditions throughout the day. The state weather bureau has urged the public to take precautions against the sweltering conditions, including limiting outdoor activities during peak hours, staying hydrated, and wearing appropriate clothing. Vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions are particularly advised to take extra care. Pagasa further reminded residents to closely monitor updates from the agency for any changes to the forecast, as the hot spell may persist into subsequent days. Local government units have been encouraged to activate their respective heat action plans to ensure the safety of their communities.
