Passengers on some of Great Britain's busiest railway lines face significant disruption over the Christmas period because of 10 days of scheduled engineering work, according to the Guardian. London's Paddington station will shut for five days over the holiday, affecting intercity services to the west of England and Wales until January. Birmingham New Street, described as the UK's busiest station outside the capital, will also close for five days. Most routes are expected to stay open despite the closures at the two major terminals.
