The Tampa Bay Buccaneers secured a 16-0 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in a downpour, completing zero passes in the process, according to the Guardian. Baker Mayfield attempted just three passes and failed to complete any, yet the Bucs leaned entirely on their ground attack to make history. The result marked the first NFL game without a passing offense since the Buffalo Bills edged the New York Jets 16-12 on September 29, 1974. Bucky Irving led the rushing effort with 170 yards and a touchdown, while Kenneth Gainwell added 140 yards. Together with Mayfield, Tampa Bay ran the ball 56 times for 324 yards, a single-game franchise record. Mayfield, a former top overall pick who threw for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns during the 2024 season, spent much of the afternoon blocking for his running backs rather than throwing. The Guardian reported that the former No. 1 selection did not play a significant role in the passing game as the rain-soaked conditions made passing impractical.
