Harriet Dart has won her first WTA title after overcoming a set down to beat 18-year-old Austrian Lilli Tagger 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the Guangzhou Open final in China. The 30-year-old Briton entered the event as a qualifier and was contesting her first tour-level final. The Guardian reported that Dart needed to save three match points in her semi-final against Sun Xinran just to reach the championship match. She then produced a comeback against Tagger, dropping the first set before taking the next two to claim the trophy. The triumph represents Dart's maiden WTA crown at the age of 30, capping a remarkable week in which she advanced from qualifying through to the title match.
