The Guardian reported that an energy minister has called on leaders of Great Britain's largest energy suppliers to increase assistance for households struggling with unpaid bills during the coming winter. The intervention came ahead of government spending of almost £2.5bn intended to help clear what was described as the country's record-high energy debts, according to the Guardian. Supplier executives were brought together for a roundtable session on Thursday to talk through the government's proposal to reduce debts owed by around 2.4 million households identified as among those most severely affected.
