A group of geologists reportedly devoted countless hours to examining remote ground in Scotland while seeking the source of an important Stonehenge feature, the Guardian reported.
According to the Guardian, the prehistoric monument has had an uncertain origin. A new scientific assessment found that the origin of the altar stone is still not settled, and the Guardian said the researchers might have focused on the wrong location.
The Guardian explained that experts are still working to solve the mystery. Tests indicated the stone could have come from elsewhere in Scotland, northern England, or possibly Ireland.
