Africanews reported that Guinea-Conakry has removed more than 8,000 gold miners from Burkina Faso, in a move that has prompted anger in Ougadougou. The expulsions followed a decision by Guinean authorities to prohibit artisanal and illegal gold mining in a number of areas in the northeastern part of the country. The removal of the Burkinabe workers has drawn a strong reaction from Ougadougou, according to Africanews.
