TACLOBAN CITY — The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported that a three-month halt on sardine fishing in Sogod Bay in Southern Leyte is set to begin on Dec. 1. According to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, the pause is intended to give sardine populations time to recover and breed. The agency described the closure as part of the government's yearly conservation effort.
