According to the Guardian, NASA's Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory is set to fall back to Earth on Wednesday, where it will disintegrate as it passes through the atmosphere. The observatory has been in service for about twenty years examining the universe's most energetic explosions, far exceeding the two-year lifespan originally planned for its trio of telescopes. The Guardian reported the spacecraft can no longer maneuver or carry out observations, and its return will not be guided. Its headline also noted a rescue effort did not succeed.
