The Irrawaddy reported that a sharp decline in the kyat against the Thai baht and the US dollar has disrupted trade along the Thai border. According to the report, rising import costs linked to the currency fall have forced some traders to suspend transactions. The outlet said the slump has also raised fears that inflation could increase further.
