Tanvi Patri has secured a place in the badminton final at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, the Times of India reported. The result makes her the first Indian woman to advance to that stage in the competition. Patri earned her place by overcoming Japan's Yuzuno Watanabe in a semifinal that went to three games. The Times of India described the contest as challenging. Before Patri, only three Indian players had reached a similar stage at the Youth Olympic Games. She has also previously won titles at the Badminton Asia U-17 Championships.
