NASA has released an image showing urban lights from the Midwest to the East Coast, captured from the International Space Station before sunrise.
According to NASA, a view from orbit shows glowing urban areas spread from the Midwestern United States toward the East Coast, photographed roughly two hours before sunrise on Oct. 18, 2026. The agency identified Chicago in Illinois, Detroit in Michigan, and the New York metropolitan region among the major urban areas visible in the image. NASA said the International Space Station was about 259 miles above Earth at the time the photograph was taken.
