According to VnExpress International, the historic roofscape of Hoi An in central Vietnam is changing as tarps and metal roofing appear on its old houses.

The temporary coverings are covering the town's distinctive yin-yang tiled roofs and its open-air lightwells, altering the appearance of the heritage landscape.

VnExpress International linked the change to there being no wood-fired kilns left, leaving the UNESCO-listed town to patch its roofs with tin and tarps.
