MANILA — Businessman Joseph Sy did not attend the Senate inquiry examining questions about his citizenship on Thursday, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported. The hearing was held by the Senate panel on justice and human rights. His absence came after he had been taken to the emergency room earlier in the day, according to the Philippine Daily Inquirer. Lawyer Alma Mallonga, who represents Sy, told the panel that her client had a “genuine desire to participate” in the proceeding, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.
