According to the Guardian, Britain and the European Union have settled an arrangement that will scrap post-Brexit border inspections affecting trade in food and animal products. The Guardian reported the agreement covers a broad range of goods moving in both directions, from sausages and cheese to leather items and flowers. The easing of the rules on food imports and exports is expected to take effect during the first quarter of 2028. A broader package of smaller agreements is expected to be confirmed at a UK-EU summit scheduled for 20 November. Under that wider package, the Guardian reported, Britain would resume payments into the EU budget in return for access to a single electricity market.
