More than half of lawyers in Victoria are now using artificial intelligence in their work, according to research cited by The Guardian. Adoption has risen to 55 percent, up from 37 percent last year.
Despite the widespread uptake, the anticipated savings have not been passed on to most clients. Just over a quarter of lawyers say they have reduced fees as a result of efficiency gains from AI.
The technology has also introduced new complications. The Guardian reported that lawyers are facing heavier workloads because clients who seek advice from chatbots often require corrections for errors made by AI.
