Myanmar authorities have started releasing ethnic Rakhine residents who were sent back from Malaysia, according to The Irrawaddy. Over 400 people from the war-torn state had been held in detention centers and subjected to weeks of interrogation following their return. The releases come after pressure was applied by Malaysia, the outlet reported. The individuals had been sent back from Malaysia on a voluntary basis before being taken into custody in Myanmar.
