The Irrawaddy reported that Myanmar's military authorities intend to hold a vote in April across 55 constituencies, despite fighting continuing in parts of the country. The plan would extend voting to areas the military authorities have retaken from resistance forces. However, according to The Irrawaddy, the military authorities' control remains limited, and many other areas affected by conflict are still excluded from the vote.
