According to the Guardian, Canva is preparing to remove or transfer more than 1,200 positions, amounting to 22% of employees worldwide, as part of a reorganisation. The Australian-founded design platform will reduce or transfer positions during the process. In a message to employees, chief executive Melanie Perkins called the cuts “without doubt the hardest moment in our thirteen-year history,” the Guardian reported. The Guardian said the move reflects a wider pattern in technology, where software firms are trying to remain competitive against lower-cost artificial intelligence rivals while also rapidly incorporating AI tools into their own products.
